Sweetheart Mine

Tonight, my sweetheart,

as a thousand stars are shining,

in a wintry sky of grayish blue,

darling mine, i am again

dreaming of other ways

of finding the real you.

As a cold gray moon is rising,

out of the shadows of the past,

sweetheart mine, i am always longing

to walk down life's pathway,

hand in hand with you.

In the early morning of springtime,

in the sunshine and the rain,

sweetheart mine, i am always praying

that your gentle heart

is really, truly mine.

Darling mine, i am always waiting,

in the hope you'll come my way.

But soon the night time

will be retreating,

bringing forth a brand new day.

I am only hoping that our hearts

beat as one again.

But, when the heavens

in the twilight of life

bring a tender lullaby,

darling, sweetheart mine,

i am always hoping,

that someday you will

try to understand.

  2. I am breathless and speechless, so beautiful!

  3. Dave-I love the way you wear your heart on your sleeve. Stripped naked the way a poet should be.
